Before you apply
When do AFA scholarship applications open?
AFA lists December 1–April 30 for its main application window. The Muellner listing instead describes September–November. Confirm the specific cycle and closing time on the official application before planning a submission.
When are AFA scholarship selections announced?
AFA’s national listing says selections for its December 1–April 30 application cycle will be announced in July. The Muellner award has a separate application window, so check its current instructions for its own selection timing.
Does appearing in these results mean I qualify?
No. These filters identify programs worth checking. Requirements can also depend on age, service status, enrollment, academic record, or other details in the application. Ask the award provider about any uncertainty before applying.
How should I prepare an application?
Open the current award instructions first. Note the deadline, required documents, and any recommendation requests. Work backward from the closing date, leave time to request records, and save the confirmation after you submit.
Can a local Chapter have other opportunities?
This comparison covers the awards currently named on AFA’s national listing. Use the Chapter directory to ask about local opportunities; do not assume that a national award’s rules or deadline apply to a Chapter award.
